The Razer Huntsman Tournament Edition (TE) is a fantastic gaming keyboard with Razer’s exclusive Linear Optical switches. These switches offer a responsive typing and gaming experience; however, some users may find them too sensitive, as they frequently detect unintentional inputs. The keyboard’s overall build quality is superb, and it features full RGB backlighting that can be readily modified using Razer’s Synapse 3 software, and the doubleshot PBT keycaps will endure a long time without fading or chipping the key legends.

The build quality of the Razer Huntsman TE is superb. It’s largely comprised of hard plastic, with a rigid aluminum plate on top. The keyboard flexes a little, but the entire construction is solid. It employs doubleshot PBT keycaps, which are quite durable; however, the stabilizers are significantly poorer, as some keys rattling. The Razer BlackWidow Tournament Edition Chroma V2 is a fantastic wired gaming keyboard. It features full RGB lighting and programmable macros, both of which can be customized in the Razer Synapse 3 add-on software. The ergonomics are good, and it’s above the original Razer BlackWidow, largely thanks to the rest. Although it is made of sturdy textured plastic, the keys are made of ABS plastic, which may disappoint some gamers. We bought the version with the Razer Yellow switches, which has a short pre-ride distance and a linear feel, but is also available with orange (tactile and silent) and green (tactile and click) switches.

The red switches on our unit provide a light and responsive typing experience; however, some may find them too sensitive, resulting in more typographical errors than usual. The build quality is excellent, it has dedicated media controls, and in addition to its full RGB backlighting, it has low-luminescent LEDs on the keyboard and palm rest. All keys are macro-programmable and even the volume wheel can be reassigned. Some customizations can be made to the card, but unfortunately the Razer Synapse 3 is required to access the full customization options and is only available on Windows.

The linear optical switches in our unit feel incredibly sensitive due to their low actuation point and require virtually no force to actuate. Unfortunately, it does not come with wrist rests and compatibility with Linux and macOS is limited, as Synapse 3 software is only available for Windows.
