The Razer Huntsman Tournament Edition (TE) is a fantastic gaming keyboard with Razer’s exclusive Linear Optical switches. These switches offer a responsive typing and gaming experience; however, some users may find them too sensitive, as they frequently detect unintentional inputs. The keyboard’s overall build quality is superb, and it features full RGB backlighting that can be readily modified using Razer’s Synapse 3 software, and the doubleshot PBT keycaps will endure a long time without fading or chipping the key legends.
The build quality of the Razer Huntsman TE is superb. It’s largely comprised of hard plastic, with a rigid aluminum plate on top. The keyboard flexes a little, but the entire construction is solid. It employs doubleshot PBT keycaps, which are quite durable; however, the stabilizers are significantly poorer, as some keys rattling. The spacebar is also quite sensitive, as the keyboard detected a keystroke when we slammed our hands against the desk. Finally, the keyboard’s kickstands are very sturdy, although they collect dust quickly.

The Razer BlackWidow Tournament Edition Chroma V2 is a fantastic wired gaming keyboard. It features full RGB lighting and programmable macros, both of which can be customized in the Razer Synapse 3 add-on software. The ergonomics are good, and it’s above the original Razer BlackWidow, largely thanks to the rest. Although it is made of sturdy textured plastic, the keys are made of ABS plastic, which may disappoint some gamers. We bought the version with the Razer Yellow switches, which has a short pre-ride distance and a linear feel, but is also available with orange (tactile and silent) and green (tactile and click) switches.

The Razer Huntsman Elite is an exceptional full-size mechanical gaming keyboard. Like its younger brothers in the Huntsman family, it can be configured with Clicky Optical (purple) or linear optical (red) switches. The red switches on our unit provide a light and responsive typing experience; however, some may find them too sensitive, resulting in more typographical errors than usual. The build quality is excellent, it has dedicated media controls, and in addition to its full RGB backlighting, it has low-luminescent LEDs on the keyboard and palm rest. All keys are macro-programmable and even the volume wheel can be reassigned. Some customizations can be made to the card, but unfortunately the Razer Synapse 3 is required to access the full customization options and is only available on Windows.

Razer Cynosa V2 is the upgrade to Razer Cynosa Chroma and is a decent gaming keyboard with full RGB backlighting and programmable keys. Its rubber dome switches seem light to touch, but may be too soft for those who prefer mechanical switches. While Razer’s Synapse 3 software offers a fair amount of customization options, it can be unstable at times and the keyboard has no built-in memory for saving profiles. Overall, while there are some gamer-centric features, the keyboard is pretty basic, and the typing experience is hard to differentiate from your average, regular desktop keyboard. Unfortunately, it does not come with wrist rests and compatibility with Linux and macOS is limited, as Synapse 3 software is only available for Windows.

The Clicky Optical switches we reviewed provide a great typing experience, with distinct tactile feedback and incredible responsiveness. Unfortunately, typing for long periods of time can be exhausting due to the lack of a wrist rest, and the design can feel a bit cramped for some. Dedicated media keys, function keys, and navigation keys are still accessible through the use of secondary functions, and most customizations can be made on the keyboard itself. Razer’s Synapse 3 software is feature rich; however, it is only available for Windows.
