The TP Link Archer c5400X is a gaming version of the recent c5400, and it’s a hell of a good gaming router. Although it doesn’t quite match ASUS Rapture, as it doesn’t have any built-in technology to improve it. truly your gaming connection, TP Link trumps ease of use. You can control everything through a simple menu, and it’s packed with features to help you fine-tune your setup, including those very important QoS options. In terms of wireless performance, the C5400X manages very impressive speeds over the 5 GHz range – some of the best available today – but is simply above average when it comes to 2.4 GHz. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but if you use most of your devices further away from the router, you should consider one that performs better at 2.4GHz, especially given the cost of it. If you’re serious about gaming, however, you should be fine (and delighted) at the 5 GHz speeds you get. Overall, this is a great kit, and only misses the top spot by a mustache.
The TP-Link Archer C5400X is a great gaming router for large homes as well as those of us looking for an easy-to-use router. In fact, this router won the award for the best router from JD Power! Combine the power of beamforming with TP-Link’s RangeBoost, and you’ve got a strong signal that goes the distance. One of the glaring shortcomings of this router is that it doesn’t have special technology to help reduce latency like other gaming routers around this price point. Nonetheless, in terms of antennas, coverage, speed, and ports, it performs well. The fact that it shines in the user experience arena with easy configuration and management of settings sets this router apart from the pack.
TP-Link has really stepped up its game with this model. It has all the features of a high-end router with a more “classic” gamer look. In a black and red case, it looks super cool and deceptively complex. It’s actually one of the easiest to set up on this list. It has an excellent quality of service and offers an even wider range of features than many of the others you see here. This wireless gaming router comes at a price, but for some it’s worth it for its good performance.
